Why a Food Truck Alliance in Memphis?

April 27, 2012 by Taylor

We are excited about the launch of the Memphis Food Truck Alliance!  We will take a minute to quickly update you on the goals for the MFTA.

The MFTA will work as it has in other cities, by uniting the various food truck operators so they make a coordinated effort to improve conditions in the city for food trucks. It will enable us to act with one voice regarding any proposed city and county rules and regulations. Perhaps most importantly, the alliance will create a website that shows where each food truck is operating at any given time, and a calendar showing where they plan to be over the next few weeks. Finally, we will be able to coordinate more “food truck rodeos” in public places, which can become destinations for your viewers to have some great food and a lot of fun!

As of right now, we are still in the process of contacting all food truck vendors in preparation for our first meeting on May 7.  During this meeting, we will formally organize the the alliance as a non-profit business association, elect leaders, and set goals and timelines. Our first event will be on May 10, when we hold a food truck rodeo downtown at Court Square.

I look forward to keeping you updated as we progress.  Thank you for your interest!
